Maharashtra: Resident doctors continue indefinite strike
Mumbai/UNI: Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors’ indefinite strike (MARD) entered second day on Saturday following an inconclusive meeting with the government officials.
MARD president Dnyaneshwar Dhobale-Patil told UNI over the phone that the meeting with Director of Medical education that was held on Friday was inconclusive.
He said, "Though meeting was positive note, but, nobody is ready to given written assurance about our demands, when our demands were fulfill, that is why it was inconclusive."
More than 4,000 resident doctors across the state, under the banner of MARD, went on indefinite strike on Friday seeking various demands, including academic fees should be waived off, hostel conditions should be improved and TDS should not be deducted from the stipend of resident doctors of BMC hospitals.
Dr Dhobale-Patil said the government hospitals throughout Maharashtra have not received COVID incentives.
He, however, reiterated that emergency services at the hospital is unaffected but Outdoor Patients Department (OPD) is not functioning.
Medical education Minister Amit Deshmukh is scheduled to meet the agitating doctors on Saturday.
