Mysuru: Zoo employee killed by elephant

Mysuru/UNI: A Mysuru zoo employee, who was looking after an elephant, was killed after the tusker attacked him, an official confirmed the news on Saturday.

In a statement issued here today, Zoo Executive Director Ajit Kulakarani said, "The deceased has been identified as Harish, who has been looking after 16-year-old Abhimanyu elephant since a long time."

However, on Friday evening the jumbo accidentally attacked him while he was cleaning its wound.

Later, injured Harish was admitted to a private hospital.

However, he failed to respond to treatment and died Friday night.

He said the employee has been working in the Mysuru zoo since 2002 and he was taking care of animals particularly the elephants.
