Stockholm/UNI: Swedish Climate activist Greta Thunberg has said that the COVID-19 pandemic may have a silver lining as due to this health emergency politicians are paying more attention to the advice from scientists and experts.

Thunberg expressed her hope that the urgency that is being shown now for saving lives would pave the way for discussions regarding the saving those lives as well that are lost due to climate change and environmental degradation.

The teen activist remained pessimistic regarding the climate's prospects saying that even if the nations of the world were to meet their emmission reduction targets she claimed that we are still heading for a "catastrophic" global temperature rise of 3-4 degrees by the end of this century.

BBC quoted Thunberg saying that the levels of awareness regarding climate issues is appalling among the politicians of the world.

Thunberg stressed that the only way to ensure a reduction in emissions on the scale that is necessary is to make fundamental changes in lifestyles, especially in the developed countries, though she expressed her apprehension weather the politicians have the nerve for that.
