South Korea reports 84,571 new Covid cases

Seoul: South Korea recorded 84,571 new Covid-19 cases, raising the total number of infections to 27,925,572, the health authorities said on Wednesday.

The daily caseload was slightly down from 86,852 in the previous day, but it was higher than 74,697 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).

Among the newly reported infections, 73 were imported cases, lifting the total to 72,311.

The latest number of infected people who were in critical condition stood at 463.

Forty-six more deaths were confirmed from Covid-19, taking the death toll to 31,174.
