Latehar/UNI: A group of wild elephants caught a woman who was travelling on a motorcycle and trampled her to death in Aurajharia forest located in East Chipadohar Forest region falling under the Palamu Tiger Reserve in Jharkhand.

The deceased has been identified as Sushma Devi (35).

The woman along with her husband and son were travelling on a bike and as soon as they reached near the forest she was pulled down by a wild elephant who later trampled her to death.

Agitated over the incident the villagers blocked traffic movement on the Betla-Mahutadand-Netarhaat road for nearly three hours demanding compensation and a government job for the kin.

The agitation was later called off after forest ranger Nand Kumar Mehta gave immediate compensation of Rs 50,000 and promised the family all other necessary help as per the provisions of the government.
