Lucknow/UNI: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Tuesday launched the vaccination drive 'Mission June' to target one crore doses.

“I appeal to the people of the state to get their vaccine doses and follow the COVID appropriate behaviour at the vaccination centre.Use a mask and observe a distance of two yards. Considering vaccination is the only protective shield against COVID-19 which is being provided free of cost in the state, getting vaccinated would safeguard the safety and security of each one of us”, urged the Chief Minister at the special vaccination centre at K D Singh Babu stadium in the state capital.

In a bid to expedite the COVID vaccination drive in Uttar Pradesh, the government has started a massive vaccination drive from June 1 to inoculate around 1 crore people against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Taking it to Twitter, the CM referred acknowledged the vaccine as "Teeka Jeet Ka’"and said, “All of you should get the "Teeka Jeet Ka" and ensure the defeat of Corona. Corona will lose, India will win".

While addressing the media at the KD Singh Babu Stadium booth, the Chief Minister said, “We aim to intensify this vaccination program on a war footing. The target is to administer as many as 90 lakhs to 1 crores doses in June itself. For this, a massive vaccination campaign has been started from today in all 75 districts of the state to provide vaccine to all the youth of the age group of 18 to 44 years."

To inoculate maximum youth under the massive vaccination drive, the government of Uttar Pradesh has set up a large number of booths.

“To meet the target, we have set up around 2100 booths across the state for the 18+ category. There are already 3000 booths being operated all over the state for the 45+ category”, said the CM.

The Chief Minister took stock of the complete arrangements of the guardian booth in detail.

Further elaborating on the arrangements, the CM said, “Special booths have been set up for judicial officers and media workers in every district under this massive campaign. At the same time, more than 200 ‘Guardian Special’ booths have been established for parents of children younger than 12 years in the state in various districts to protect children from the upcoming third wave. These numbers will be increased in the coming time”.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also given instructions to the state government officials to ensure that all the sections of the society receive a vaccine shot under 'Mission June'.

While giving information about the same, the CM said, “June 15 onwards we have made another arrangement of some special booths for state employees and teachers, at the same time, special vaccination booths will also be set up for street vendors, milkmen, vegetable vendors, or those who come in contact with hundreds of people every day”.

Regarding the progress of vaccination and supply of vaccines, the Chief Minister stated that the vaccination program is going on a war footing to protect every citizen of the country from coronavirus.

“Since January 16, more than 21 crore people have taken their doses of vaccine in the country and the progress is steady. The Government of India is providing vaccine to every state as per its requirement” he added.

Referring to the rigorous work being done by the surveillance committees, the CM asserted, “The surveillance committees are going door-to-door in villages and localities. Please don’t hold back from getting tested as these tests are also free of cost”.

In a bid to speed up the process of vaccination, the historic Chota Imambara of Lucknow has been converted into a vaccination centre. It is expected that using historical places as vaccination centre will encourage the population living nearby to get inoculated at the earliest.

Yogi Adityanath also issued a special message to parents asking them to take the life-saving jab on priority to prevent transmission of the Coronavirus infection to their children at home.

"To ensure the safety of the children amid the Coronavirus pandemic, the parents' COVID vaccination will be done on priority. If your child is below 12 years of age, visit the nearest "Guardian Special Booth" and get "Tika Jeet Ka" as soon as possible," he tweeted.

In the category of 18+ around 21,07,299 jabs have been administered so far. As many as 19,302 have taken their second shots of the anti-COVID vaccine.

Till now 1,83,32,316 doses have been administered in the 45+ category, of which around 1,48,51,890 have received the first dose while nearly 34,80,426 have taken both doses.
