Addressed as 'Maa' is a humbling feeling : Alakananda Roy

| | May 03, 2015, at 05:34 am
Kolkata, May 2 (IBNS) Danseuse Alakananda Roy has dedicated the 'Pathikrit Samman' award, in recognition of her work for the prison inmates to the 'Children of God'.

"For me they are the Children of God. The inmates of different correctional homes who have the spark lying within them for igniting. They are all my sons and daughters," Alakananda, having introduced 'culture therapy' among the prisoners in 'Balmiki Protibha' in 2011, said after having received the award.

The danseuse-social activist, whose last production with the inmates 'Dhrubojyoti Tumi Jishu', against violence and bloodshed was now being staged across venues, said she has the humbling feeling whenever she is addressed as Maa by the inmates, the sweetest word ever heard.

"We are proud to confer the Suthol Pathikrits 2015 on Alakananda Roy," an organiser said.

Besides Alakananda, Internationally acclaimed Homeopath Dr. Prasanta Banerji and well known Child Specialist cum Academician Professor Dr. Apurba Ghosh were other recipients for their service in respective fields.
