Alternative Living Theatre holds five-day national drama festival in Kolkata neighbourhood
Kolkata, Nov 3 (IBNS): The concept of the “Para Porshir Theatre” festival is to build a bridge of friendliness and highlight different forms of theatre practices across the globe, said Subhadeep Guha, while talking of the five-day national drama festival organised by Alternative Living Theatre (ALT).
The theatre festival, in its third edition in 2017, was inaugurated by West Bengal's IT minister, Batrya Basu, in the presence of legislator Rathin Ghosh and Sangit Natak Akademi winner Probir Guha.
Songs by Kakali Das and recitations by Atanu Barman were other highlights of the inaugural function.
Participants from West Bengal, Bihar and even neighbouring Bangladesh will present their plays at the theatre festival which concludes on Sunday.
A theatre group from Bihar presented “Bapu”, a play directed by Sangit Natya Akademi winner Parvez Akhtar on the first day of the festival.
Directed by Probir Guha, the members of ALT will stage a play titled Titas Ekti Nodir Naam” adapted from the work of Adwaita Mallabarman, on Sunday.
The festival is being held at Madhyamgram Nazrul Sadan (six pm onwards) located in the northern neighbourhood of Kolkata.
