Bangla audio-book App released in Kolkata

Kolkata, June 7 (IBNS): The first ever Bengali audio book App (Application) was launched by filmmaker Sandip Ray at a function on Friday.

Stories from Bengal's legendary writer Upendrakishore Roychoudhury's children's classic Tuntunir Boi launched as an App by his greatgrandson, Sandip Ray, was all the more significant because Bengal's well-known singer, Srikanto Acharya, lent his voice to the narrations enacting all the different characters by himself.

The App is produced jointly by Srikanto Acharya Productions and Druidendo, a Hyderabad-based software company.

The App will be available on smartphones and the first story can be downloaded free of charge. The rest of the stories can be downloaded for USD 1 for each.

Embarking on this new role of acting an excited Srikanto Acharya said, “When my wife Arna asked me to narrate these stories, I was more than eager, because voice-acting is something that I am quite passionate about and Tuntuni stories are my all time favorites! I spoke and acted using multiple voices, the Tuntuni at one time, the King, the Tiger, or the goat Narahari Das at another - it was a wonderfully enjoyable and liberating experience.”

Anindita Banik of Druidendo, the software architect and creator of the App said, “The App promises a complete audio-visual experience with page-turning clicks simulating an experience of a story book being read out.”
