On a crisp, cold December evening how about a cup of freshly prepared tea or chai! An ideal beverage to kill the chill! And, if you have some delectable munchies to accompany… then it makes for a perfect setting for an adda with friends.
The ongoing Chill Over Chai festival at Café 4/1 on Camac Street, is just the place to be. Make sure you drop in to chill before December 31, 2018 from 12 noon onwards. Tea in all its variety…Irani Chai, Tandoori Chai, Chocolate Chai, Masala Chai and the Kashmiri Kehwa…are being served in matir bhanr or khullars and also in a typical roadside tea stall type of tea glass.
The Tandoori Chai had a distinctive flavour where the aroma of tea merged perfectly with the smoky after taste of charcoal. The tea was served from an aluminium kettle into pre-smoked (over a mini tandoor) clay mugs. It was refreshingly different and so was the Kehwa.
Café 4/1 is offering a select variety of freshly brewed tea served in style. The experience of having a cuppa at the café is truly interesting. Plus there are the side dishes that everyone would love to have repeats…be it the tea cake, chilly cheese toast or the yummy malai toast. Do not miss this opportunity to enjoy the very very desi chai served with an interesting twist and make tea time come alive. So, chill over chai!
“The objective of hosting a tea festival was to revive the culture of drinking tea” says Bhavika Surana, co-owner of the café.
