Cream Centre, Vyoma Innovus and Mind Body Soul collaborate to cheer underprivileged kids
Along with Vyoma Industries, the three business brands from diverse fields therefore recently joined hands to bring joy to a section of the underprivileged children of Kolkata.
Cream Centre, a popular vegetarian chain restaurant, in collaboration with engineering company Vyoma Innovus and wellness institute Mind Body Soul hosted a buffet lunch at the restaurant for the underprivileged children recently. A magic show was also organised for them.
Believing on the principle that one must give back to society the good that one derives from it, Nandini Choudhari, who heads Mind Body Soul, contacted Cream Centre with an idea to do something for the underprivileged children.
"Last month, Mind Body Soul and Cream Centre organised a ‘feed with love’ program for orphan children. This month, Vyoma Innovus has joined us and they are looking into the media partnership. Alone, we can never achieve anything and it is only when we join hands that we can achieve something. Slowly, we are having more and more individuals join this initiative. We want to send out this message that one should do for others and not just for himself/herself," she said.
According to Choudhari, "Basic wellness starts with a full stomach. That is the first requirement."
“To me, wellness is about taking a holistic approach. In our society today, everyone, from a four-year old to an aged person, is very stressed out. Leading a happy life is the essence of stress management as we cannot change our circumstances or the people around us. To help people beat stress and calm the mind, we follow colour therapy, aromatherapy, meditation and techniques," said Choudhari.
Swastik Mukherjee of Vyoma Innovus said, "For this venture, we are the technology partner. We’re one of the first ‘Mechatronics’ companies (a combination of electrical, mechanical controlled computer science and communication engineering) in the eastern part of India. Our business partner TBS Mechatronics is from New Zealand. Recently, we provided the Kolkata Police with an app which can penalise a person the very instant he or she jumps a traffic signal.”
“The reason why we are here today is because of the intention behind the initiative. When we went to Kasba to meet the underprivileged children, it was a happy time for all of us. These children are so so talented we discovered," he said.
“The amount of love that these children can give you is unimaginable. They will sing, dance and recite to make you feel happy. Hug them and they will hug you back with such love and warmth," said Prasant Menon of Cream Centre Restaurant.
“If they are not privileged enough, it is our duty to give the privilege back to them and give them a family and love. I was overjoyed and overwhelmed by the kids’ responses," said Mukherjee.
“Initially, I was a little hesitant about asking for food for the children, and I had thought of giving them leftovers. But Prasant said that they deserve the best of food and crockery and so we just had to do this," said Choudhari.
“We want to build this into a movement. We want to do this on a monthly basis. We’re nothing but a drop in the ocean right now, but the whole idea is to do more and more of these events and basically be change agents on a personal and group level. Everyone has their own business and work but this is something that we should all participate in," elaborated Menon.
“As far as the restaurant goes, we have seen a tremendous rise in footfalls in the past few years. Despite being a strictly vegetarian restaurant, we have garnered a lot interest because of the quality and taste of the food served," said Menon.
The initiative has receive a good response from people and many have promised to help, added Choudhari.
