Google doodles to pay tribute to India's first woman photojournalist Homai Vyarawalla
New York, Dec 9 (IBNS): Popular Indian search engine Google on Saturday designed its homepage with a doodle to mark 104th birth anniversary of India's first woman photojournalist Homai Vyarawalla.
She was commonly known by her pseudonym "Dalda 13".
Homai Vyarawalla was India's first woman photojournalist.
First active in the late 1930s, she retired in the early 1970s. In 2011, she was awarded Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award of the country.
She passed away at the age of 98 on Jan 15, 2012.
Google often decorates its homepage with special doodles to mark special birthdays and events.
Speaking on the doodle, Google India tweeted: "She captured the birth and growth of a new nation through the lens of her camera. Celebrating the life of India's first female photojournalist - Homai Vyarawalla. #GoogleDoodle http://goo.gl/9xgZBV ."
