India at 75: Bengali musical group recreates national song Vande Mataram
Kolkata/IBNS: Bengali musical group of 15 singers, Eso Bondhu, recreated India's national song Vande Mataram on the occasion of the country's 75th Independence year.
Eso Bondhu recreated the national song as Vande Mataram - Tumi Maa.
The music video, which is produced by Asha Audio, features young singers Gourab Sarkar, Kinjal Chattopadhyay, Aritra Dasgupta, Arkadeep Mishra, Abhratanu Ghosh, Gurujeet Singh, Tanmoy Biswas, Arfin Rana, Raktim Chowdhury, Samadipta Mukherjee, Chandrika Bhattacharya, Jyoti Sharma, Rishita Saha, Sonali Banerjee and Somdatta Das.
Singer-lyricist Gourab Sarkar, who led the group, says, "This year marks the 75th year of independence. We wanted to create something new this Independence day and thus we came up with the idea of the song. Vandematram is an ode to our motherland. We have tried to keep the same essence in our song at the same time we have tried to highlight the perspective of our mothers.
"The original song Vandemataram is representing our motherland and our composition Tumi Maa is representing our mothers in flesh and blood. We have tried to blend both of them in our song. The song also has a rap which similarly represents both the mothers."
The video, which was launched at Yellow Turtle Friday, showcases several locations of north and south Kolkata.
The video features all the singers with heartwarming visuals of mothers from different backgrounds in Kolkata.
The song also features Kolkata's popular model Bilkis Parveen.
"I had instantly said 'yes' to the proposal of Gourab-da because he always takes praiseworthy steps when it comes to music and its experimentation," Samadipta told India Blooms.
The cinematography and editing of the video was done by Prasanta Kumar Sur and his team while the song is composed by Kinjal Chattopadhyay and Abhratanu Ghosh and written by Gourab Sarkar.
Popular Bengali singer Rupankar Bagchi, who was present at the music video launch, shares with India Blooms, "15 artists came together to celebrate 15th August, the Independence Day! It is a beautiful collaboration.
"I always appreciate collaborative efforts. My best wishes to them."
Along with Rupankar, singers Manomoy Bhattacharya, Ujjaini Mukherjee, Rathijit Bhattacharjee among others.
The music video is now streaming on the YouTube channel of Asha Audio.
