Cerebral theatre personality-actor Kaushik Sen, Nirbasito director-actor Churni Ganguly and famed Rabindra Sangeet exponent Pramita Mallick in an elocution-singing 'jugalbandi' brought to the fore the crisis faced by the civilisation due to the greenhouse effect, drawing parallels to the heat wave condition and invoked Tagore's writings in a unique collage of recitation-song-background music and visuals in the screen.
Kaushik read excerpts from Sabhyatar Sankat, Sobujer Obhijan while Churni, the Bastushap actor, sang in full-throated voice 'Akash Bhara Surjo Tara' along with Pramita Mallick as images of green covers, destruction and blazing sun flashed in the background.
"I am happy to attend this concert which is themed on global warming and climate change. This year's heat wave and impending drought remind us of the threat to our environment if we don't act immediately," Kaushik Sen said.
He said the 'Shobujer Obhijaan' (Quest of the Green) was a unique multimedia concoction of music, dance, theatre which comprised with traditional interpretations of Tagore's works.
"Tagore's works sound prophetic in the present situations in every sense," Kaushik, turning up in a upcoming Bengali film on Tagore's Raktokorobi, said.
Singer-vocalist Sounak Chattopadhyay, who was the brain behind the show, said it was a pleasure to study more of the Tagorean philosophy of man and nature bonding while preparing the script of the multimedia show which was also choreographed by danseuse Tanusree Shankar.
