Kolkata: ICCR hosts 10th anniversary celebration of Robir Kiran

| @indiablooms | Dec 14, 2025, at 07:08 pm

The Satyajit Ray Auditorium at Kolkata’s ICCR resonated with music and celebration as Robir Kiran marked its grand 10th anniversary.

The evening opened with a spellbinding solo performance by Sayantani Gupta, the guiding force behind Robir Kiran. Her presentation, titled “Rabi—Chitte—Cholocchitre,” offered a thoughtfully curated selection of Rabindranath Tagore’s songs as interpreted in Indian cinema over the decades—from the works of legends such as Ritwik Ghatak and Satyajit Ray to contemporary filmmakers. Supported by outstanding live accompaniment, Sayantani’s soulful renditions left the audience deeply moved.

The second segment of the programme witnessed the formal launch of the fifth phase of “Akhand Geetabitan” (Audio–Visual). The inauguration was graced by Swami Suparnananda Maharaj, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, Subhojit Roy, Debashish Saha, and Sukomal Gupta.

The concluding segment featured “Jāpane Gītāñjali,” presented by the students of Robir Kiran. The performances were led by the Robir Kiran ensemble, complemented by evocative narrative readings by Debashis Basu and expressive dance presentations by the Urmila Bhowmick Cultural Troupe.

Music direction for the entire evening was helmed by Debashish Saha, while the programme was meticulously curated and directed by Sayantani Gupta.

Played out before a packed auditorium, the celebration concluded as a resounding success—an evening that will be fondly remembered by all who attended. The event was sponsored by Modern Railtech along with several multinational organisations, and was anchored with grace and warmth by Sudipta Bhaduri.
