Kolkata/IBNS: This is an annual show that promises a nostalgic trip down the lanes of a bygone era of automobiles when cars were indeed larger than life possessions of the rich and aristocratic.

With cars now an easy possession of every middle-class household, a show like the one that Lake Club hosts annually every winter reminds everyone of an era of sheer magnificence and the gradual evolution of automobiles.

So 90 scintillating and exotic classic cars and motorcycles provided a rare treat to the Kolkatans as the fourth Annual Lake Club - EIMG Concours d'Elegance was hosted on Jan 12. It ended on a colourful note with the 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe owned by S K Lahiri bagging the Shashi Kanoria Memorial - Best Of Show Award on Sunday.

The day-long event jointly organised by Eastern India Motoring Group (EIMG) and Lake Club saw a 1937 Rolls Royce 25/30 owned by the Karnani family winning the  Sanjoy Ghosh Memorial  Second Of Show prize, while the Momen Sahab Memorial  Third Of Show title went to 1958 Mercedes Ponton owned by Prithvi Nath Tagore.

The gentle jalopies, which were assembled  at the complex on the bank of Rabindra Sarobar, included vintage cars of different brands including  nine Rolls Royces, a Ferrari, and the century old AC Royal.

It has  attracted car lovers from near and far, making it the best vintage motoring event in eastern India.
