Manipal University breaks into 200th position in Asia

Mumbai, June 16 (IBNS): Manipal University figures at the 200th position in the Quacquarelli Symonds University Asia Ranking list 2016 released on Tuesday. Top 350 Universities from across 17 countries were considered for ranking this time and Manipal University has for the first time broken into the prestigious position among Asian universities.

Reacting to the progress being made by the University, Chancellor, Dr Ramdas M Pai said, “I am glad to learn Manipal University has achieved the 200th position in Asia. I am sure we will continue to do better in improving our rank in the years to come. We have done well in the rankings by magazines within the country, which is indication of the good progress we are making. I am also glad with the progress we are making in research”.

H. Vinod Bhat, the Vice Chancellor said, “I am delighted to know that Manipal University has entered the QS Asia 200 ranking list. The last one year saw operationalizing of several new initiatives including three Centers of Excellence – Center for Avionics, Center for Newborn Errors of Metabolism and Center for Biophotonics. We also started 40 other centers which have already started yielding results through their research and publications, thereby contributing to the visibility of the University”.

He added, “Manipal University is now leading the Basic Medical Science initiative as a part of the National Program for Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) in collaboration with IIT Madras. I am very confident that these actions plus some more that we have planned for the next 12 months will improve our standing when it is time for 2017 ranking.”
