Kolkata, Aug 12 (IBNS): Akash the Infinite, a music album by Joy Sarkar and Lopamudra Mitra, and sponsored by Boroline, was released recently at the Lake Club premises.

Former Indian cricket captain Saurav Ganguly and his wife, well-known dancer Dona Ganguly, were present for the album release.

“Although I don't get the intricacies of music, it still gives me a lot of pleasure. Joy and Lopa has been and will continue giving that pleasure.” said Saurav Ganguly on his connection with music.

Eight years after working together in Ananda, the Ecstacy, the musical duo has again come forth with this new album, which consists of four songs penned by Rabindranath Tagore.

The songs in the album include 'Akash amar bhorlo aloy', 'Bohe nirontoro ananta ananda dhara', 'Mor bina uthe kon sure baji' and 'Eki labanya purnno prana' along with a video has been shot and released for 'Bohe nirontoro ananta ananda dhara'.

Lopamudra Mitra said “Although many say that people don't listen to Bengali music, I don't believe it as I perform Bengali songs in front of an audience who are eager to listen to my songs.”

“I have worked with Lopa-di's previous audio called Sapmochon,” said Dona Ganguly.

When asked, if she wants to perform on the songs from this album, she added, “Her rendering is beautiful. When I work with these songs, I understand the passion that goes into rendering these songs. I definitely want to work with this too.”
These songs in keeping with the subtitle of the album speak about an infinite journey both within and without.
