Skipper Foundation touches lives of around 700 underprivileged girl child

Kolkata, July 19 (IBNS): Skipper Foundation, the CSR and philanthropic arm of Skipper Group, brings around 700 girl children under the ambit of its CSR programmes “BETI PADHAO ABHIYAAN”.

The occasion was graced by Keshari Nath Tripathy, Governor of West Bengal, as the Guest of Honour, Vivek Gupta, Member of Parliament, Hari Krishan Chowdhury, philanthropist and educationist, Sajan Kumar Bansal, Managing Director, Skipper Limited, Brahamananda ji Agarwal, Pashimbangal Marwari Shiksha Kosh, Ram Gopal Bansal. Master Kautilya Pandit, the 9-year-old world famous ‘Google Boy’ made a special appearance to entertain the invitees.

Through a formal function organised at G.D. Birla Auditorium, educational scholarships were distributed today to around 700 girl children from 9 schools from Kolkata as a part of a noble endeavour to support the education of our daughters and sisters for the Right to Education. The children were selected by the schools through a need-based selection process. The occasion was inaugurated by our honorable Governor through a lamp lighting ceremony.

Expressing his immense delight, Vivek Gupta, Member of Parliament, stated, “We are glad to be associated with such a cause. We have been always supporting individuals or corporates who have taken a step forward in the national mission of basic Right to Education.”

With a renewed vigour Hari Krishan Chowdhury, renowned philanthropist and educationist said, “I have my own educational institution in Haryana. It is extremely encouraging to witness Skipper Foundation participating and contributing to a social cause for the betterment of our next generation. Such a noble way of helping a girl child is truly an eye opener.”

Brahamananda ji Agarwal, said, “Our association with Skipper is more than 25 years long. Skipper has a long track-record of undertaking various kinds of social and charitable activities across different sections of the society covering various geographical areas. Today we are glad to witness a successful execution of a long nurtured thought.”

Speaking on the occasion, Sajan Kumar Bansal, Managing Director, Skipper Limited said, “We at Skipper Foundation believe that empowerment of an individual is possible only if India reads and learns. We want to extend the coverage of these programmes to a larger number of beneficiaries across the State of West Bengal and subsequently beyond the limits of the State to other parts of the country. We hope to receive encouraging response from teachers, students and their parents with a thought to reach out to larger number of students trying to bring a difference to their pursuit of their dreams.”
