The Governor said, “It is my privilege to be here, to share a few moments with you as you celebrate a momentous occasion in the sesquicentenary year of your founding. Your journey had a humble beginning but had been enriched by the rich traditions of your founding father, past principals and staff members.”
Subrat Das said, “St. James’ and the Post both share a common heritage. Both handle education. The world of philately is in fact one of the finest mediums of education.”
When asked about his feelings, Terence Ireland, Principal, St. James’ School told IBNS: “Well, It’s an important day in the history of St James’ that we were able to get the Hon. Governor to come and do the release for the special cover and the history book of the St James’ School. I’m excited that the book which took me nearly two years to write is completed and now released.”
St. James’ School was founded by Rev. George Cotton on the 25 July 1864.
It was initially established as Calcutta Boy’s School and later rechristened to its present name to go along with the St. James’ Church.
