US Consul Gen launches entrepreneurship programme for development of women in Bengal
The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Calcutta University Sugata Marjit and Claflin University's professor Karl S. Wright were present at the event here at the American Centre in Kolkata.
The 3-year-long project- promoting eco-friendly entrepreneurship development for women in West Bengal- is a part of 16th International Education Week (IEW) celebrations and under the aegis of Indo-U.S. 21st Century Knowledge Initiative (formerly known as Obama-Singh Knowledge Initiative).
Hosted by three centres in Kolkata, Siliguri and Asansol, the project will cover the whole West Bengal in six phases.
Faculty members, research scholars and students of both universities will work collaboratively in the project, aiming at the formation of a consortium for research on sustainable development and to collaborate with the University of Calcutta in developing a programme for promoting eco-entrepreneurship among women in the state of West Bengal.
However, the Calcutta University's Women Studies Research Centre (WSRC) department will lead the project.
