Veteran cartoonist Mangesh Tendulkar passes away in Pune

Pune, Jul 10 (IBNS): Renowned cartoonist Mangesh Tendulkar passed away at a Pune hospital on Monday night, according to media reports on Tuesday. He was 82.

He was suffering from bladder cancer.

Brother of well-known playwright, late Vijay Tendulkar, Mangesh Tendulkar was a severe critic of civic issue violations.

Vinod Tawde, a minister in the Maharashtra government, tweeted, "Pen behind sketches that battled socio-political issues with humour now runs dry, with the demise of noted cartoonist #MangeshTendulkar.RIP!"

Pune's BJP MP Anil Shirole tweeted, "Tributes to the great cartoonist Mangesh Tendulkar, his caricatures on politics & governance were humorous & truly reflective of our times."
