World celebrates Mother's Day, Google honours motherhood with innovative doodle

Google presented animated doodle to honour the sacrifices and efforts that a mother takes for her child.

The Google Doodle displayed a series of story of a pregnant cactus and her journey as a mother from giving birth to her baby cacti, to taking care of it and finally living a settled life with the grown up babies.

Mother's Day is a celebration of honoring motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.

It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.

Celebrities took to Twitter to wish their mothers on this special day.

Filmmaker Karan Johar‏ on Sunday posted: " She taught me to behave and to save! I did the former...love you so much mom!!! #happymothersday."

Ex-cricketer Harbhajan Singh tweeted: "Everything I am, you helped me to be. #MothersDay."

Actor Irrfan wrote on Twitter: How I miss my mother cuddling #happymothersday."

Indian cricket Rohit Sharma tweeted: "Happy Mother's Day to all the mums out there. The one who encouraged me to find my own person and own independence #HappyMothersDay.'

Musician Salim Merchant posted: "Our Mother was our World & we keep her close to us! @Sulaiman #happymothersday."

Posting an animated scene where mother doesn't get any attention, actor Varun Dhawan tweeted: "Ye To GaLaT Hai Na (This s so wrong).. #HappyMothersDay
Plz Take CaRe & Respect Of  YouR Mom...."

Besides emotional messages, daughters and sons also follow the ritual of gifting their mothers on this day expressing their love.

The day has also taken a consumerist angle with several companies banking on the occasion and offering discounts on merchandised products.
