10-day long Nagaland Hornbill Festival begins tomorrow

Kohima/UNI: Nagaland Governor R N Ravi will inaugurate the 20th edition of Nagaland Hornbill Festival tomorrow at the Naga Heritage Village at Kisama as the Chief Guest, while Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will attend the function as the Chief Host.

The Nagaland Hornbill Festival will begin coinciding the Nagaland Statehood Day tomorrow, the 1st December, as the there will be a Statehood Day celebration will be at the Kohima Local Ground with various programme. 

The tourist festival, Nagaland Hornbill Festival will be inaugurated at 04.00 PM at the Naga Heritage Village at Kisama, about 10 Kms east of Kohima, which will be a unique platform for the tourist to witness the diverse culture of Nagaland with colourful cultural items of the 17 Naga tribes.

Every year the celebration get better and drawing the attention and recognition both domestic and international tourist.

Official sources informed that the troupe from Thailand has confirmed their presence in the Hornbill Festival at Kisama and another troupe expected from Hungary.

The Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) of Nagaland will look after the music and concerts to be held at various places at Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Phek and Wokha.

 According to the statics of last year’s Hornbill Festival, there were altogether 2, 51, 701 visitors, of which 2702 were tourists from foreign countries, 378, 397 were domestic tourists and 2, 11, 502 were local visitors in the Naga Heritage Village.
