Kolkata, Oct 10 (IBNS): A person was caught red-handed by the locals while raping an 11-year-old girl in West Bengal’s Durgapur town on Friday, media reports said.

The man identified as Bhola, allegedly the brother of a local Trinamool Congress leader Babu Mondal, gagged the girl while she was waiting for her relatives near her house in the City Centre area.

Bhola was inebriated. He took the girl to Mondal’s house and allegedly raped her, police said

As the girl started screaming, locals came to rescue her. The irate mob stripped Bhola and beat him up black and blue. They also set afire a motorcycle parked outside the house.

Later, Bhola was arrested by the police. The girl was admitted to the Durgapur sub-divisional hospital.

A police picket was also set up in the area.
