New Delhi, Feb 19 (IBNS): The Delhi Police on Thursday said five people, including two officials of the Petroleum Ministry, have been arrested for leaking confidential government documents.

Delhi Police Chief BS Bassi told reporters that those who have received the documents have been identified.

"Investigation is still on the preliminary stage...We will catch everyone involved in this matter," he said.

He said the police had set up a trap at the petroleum ministry offices in Shastri Bhawan and then arrested three people in connection to the case.

"After interrogating them we detained two others later," Bassi said.

He said: "We need to study all documents and see if sections of Official Secrets Act are applicable in this case."

"They had created duplicate keys , ID cards and entered the rooms where they used to steal documents and make photocopies of them," he said.

Meanwhile, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has called the incident 'unfortunate'.

"The police are investigating the issue.  The suspects will be severely dealt with," he told media.

According to reports, the arrested people had shared some secret government papers with some corporate houses.
