26/11 mastermind Lakhvi detained again in Pakistan

Islamabad, Dec 30 (IBNS): 26/11 terror mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi has been detained for the second time in Pakistan on Tuesday, media reports said.

Sources said a new case was registered against Lakhvi. Pakistan had assured India that it would appeal against Lakhvi’s bail in the Supreme Court but that has yet to happen.

He was detained day after a court cancelled government orders to keep him in prison even after he was granted bail on December 18. Lakhvi would have been released after the Islamabad High Court on Monday cancelled a previous detention order.

He submitted a Rs. 1 million surety bond on Monday night

India on Monday summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit to register its protest against the court order that would allow the 2008 Mumbai attacks plotter to walk free, sources said.

Lakhvi had masterminded the 2008 Mumbai terror attack that killed as many as 166 people.
