336 from West Bengal stranded in earthquake-hit Nepal

Kolkata, Apr 26 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday said 336 people from the state are currently stranded in earthquake-hit Nepal.

"As of now 336 people from Bengal stranded. 31 rescued. Of them 9 flying back by Indigo at 2:55 PM &15 by Air India at 5 PM #NepalEarthquake," Banerjee tweeted.

She said: "Here again is the control room number for #Bengal #Earthquake. 1070 ."

The death toll following Saturday's devastating earthquake in Nepal crossed 2100 with the Himalayan country experiencing fresh quake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale on Sunday, triggering more panic across the nation.

According to the  United States Geological Survey, the aftershocks measured 6.7 in the Richter scale.

The epicenter of Sunday's quake was Kodari, around 80 km east of Kathmandu.

Aftershocks were also felt in UP, Bihar, Punjab, Assam and West Bengal.

Apart from Delhi, tremors were also felt in Lucknow and Kolkata.

In Bihar, the tremors went on for several minutes, reports said.

Metro services were also disrupted in Kolkata and Delhi following the tremors.
