''Around 200 to 300 terrorists are operating within Jammu and Kashmir who have come here and joined terrorist outfits here,'' Lt Gen Singh told reporters at the sidelines of a function in Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda district.

He however, said that nearly 500 terrorists were waiting in various training camps along the Line of Control in PoK and they were looking for an opportunity to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir.

''The terrorists are operational within hinterlands of J&K to keep the region in turmoil with Pakistan's support,'' he further said that nearly 500 terrorists were staged in terrorists training camps in PoK and were ready to infiltrate.

''The figures keep changing and no matters whatever it is, we are capable to stop and eliminate them to ensure peace and normalcy in this region,'' he added.

The Army Commander further added that terrorists were facing a shortage of arms in Kashmir following which they were trying to snatch or loot weapons from SPOs and police stations.
