Lucknow, June 7 (IBNS): Amid criticisms over the Badaun rape and murder case, the Uttar Pradesh government has transferred 66 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 42 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, reports said on Saturday.

The government has also suspended  Badaun Senior Superintendent of Police Atul Saxena.

Meanwhile,  Uttar Pradesh DGP AL Banerjee has said rape of one of the two girls was not confirmed as per the inputs available so far.

He said property issue could be a reason behind the crime.

"Out of the two victims, one was a lone child. Her father has three brothers. They have limited resources. In case, the girl is not alive, then it can benefit others. Hence, it (property) might be one of the motives. But I am not saying that this is the only motive," Banejee said in a press conference.

Two Dalit minor sisters were allegedly gangraped and then hanged from a tree at Katra village in Badaun district on May 27.

The cousin sisters, aged 14 and 15 respectively, were reportedly missing since May 27 night.
