AAP internal Lokpal will probe on Tomar's fake law degrees: Sanjay Singh

New Delhi, June 12 (IBNS): Amid speculations that the Aam Aadmi Party may expel former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar after he was arrested over charges of possessing fake law degrees, the AAP on Friday said its internal Lokpal will probe the matter.
At a press conference, AAP's leader Sanjay Singh said, "A lot of question has been raised over Tomar's fake law degrees. Party's internal Lokpal will inquire into the matter. Then the party will take a decision on him."

Top AAP leaders met late on Thursday night to discuss about Tomar, who resigned from the post on Tuesday after his arrest and is currently in police custody.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was reportedly upset with Tomar over the issue.

Meanwhile, the principal of a Munger college told mediapersons that records show someone named Tomar had indeed enrolled in his college. But whether it is the same Tomar  who is a politician or not cannot be verified.

"Records say that someone by the name of Jitender Singh Tomar took admission here. But that this Jitender Singh Tomar is the same as the politician we cannot ascertain because there is no photographic record,” he said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Tomar was taken to Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh to take part in the investigation over his alleged faked degrees.

Tomar has been charged under various IPC sections including 420 (cheating). He has also been charged under IPC sections 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery with purpose of cheating) and 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy).

Tomar has claimed that he got his Bachelor of Science degree from Avadh University in Faizabad and LLB or bachelor of law from the Bishwanath Singh Institute of Legal Study College, Munger, affiliated to the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University in Bihar.

Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University had informed the Delhi High Court that Tomar's law degree is fabricated. The institute had claimed that Tomar's law degree does not exist in their records.

The Delhi Police had alleged that a nearly month-long investigation had revealed that Tomar not only submitted a fake science graduation degree and law mark sheets to register with the Bar Council of Delhi, but also forged a migration certificate.
