ACM Bhadauria awards Unit Citation to Squadron involved in Balakot airstrike

Hindon, Oct 8 (UNI): Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria on Tuesday awarded Unit Citation to Srinagar-based 51 squadron, 601 Signal Unit and Gwalior-based 9 Squadron here for their exemplary work during Balakot airstrike in Pakistan.

9 Squadron comprising of Mirage fighter aircraft was tasked to conduct air strike on the terror camp in Pakistan.

Post airstrike, Pakistan Air Force tried to target the Indian military installations along Jammu and Kashmir border.

IAF's 601 Signal Unit played a pivotal role during aerial strike in thwarting Pakistani jet entering into Indian territory.

Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s 51 squadron received unit citation award for shooting down Pakistan's F-16 in dogfight on Feb 27.

Commanding officer Group Captain Satish Pawar received the Unit citation award.
