City lawyers on Saturday held a protest against the police after an advocate fell from the eighth floor of his apartment building and died during a police raid in Sikandra area of Agra district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said.

Police sources said that advocate Sushil Sharma, along with his wife Sunita, lived on the eighth floor of the Mangalam Aadhar apartment for the last month.

"It is being alleged that late on Friday night, around 7 to 8 police personnel reached his flat. It is being alleged that during this, Sushil fell from the eighth floor," they said.

Police sources said that the police team took the advocate to SN Medical College, where doctors declared him dead.

"The wife of the deceased advocate has levelled allegations against the police," they said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Suraj Rai said that the police had gone to carry out a raid during which the advocate died after falling from the building.

"It is being suspected that the advocate had gone to a neighbouring flat to hide, where construction work was being carried out. The matter is being investigated," he said.
