Afghan-origin Indian national Bansri Lal abducted at gunpoint in Kabul
Kabul/New Delhi/UNI: An Afghan-origin Indian national Bansri Lal was abducted at gunpoint from near his shop in Kabul, said Puneet Singh Chandhok, President Indian World Forum, on Tuesday, adding that he has approached the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene in the matter.
Chandhok said that he has been informed by the Afghan Hindu Sikh community that an Afghan-origin Indian national, known as Bansri Lal, aged around 50 years, was abducted on Monday at around 8 a.m. from the vicinity of his shop in Kabul.
Bansri Lal, a resident of Khost, was currently living in Karte Parwan, district -4 of Kabul.
He is into the business of pharmaceutical products and was going to the shop when he was abducted.
His car was hit from behind and after that he was abducted at gunpoint and driven away in a green-coloured Toyota Corolla, Chandhok said.
The incident took place in 11th Police district of Kabul. Bansri Lal’s family lives in Delhi.
Chandhok said the local community is following up the matter with the concerned officials, and a case has been registered with the local investigation agencies. He added that searches were conducted during the day to locate Bansri Lal, as per his friends.
Chandhok said he has informed the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, regarding the matter and requested for their immediate intervention and assistance in this regard.
