Guwahati/IBNS: In a show of communal harmony, a body of indigenous Muslim communities of Assam would donate Rs 5 lakh for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, a News18 report said.

After the Supreme Court in a landmark decision on Nov 9 granted the entire disputed land to the deity Ram Lalla, Janagusthiya Samonnoy Parishad, Assam(JSPA), an organisation of 21 indigenous Muslim communities whose forefathers had converted to Islam, made the offer.

"The Supreme Court has removed the hurdles in the construction of Ram mandir with the historic judgment. We welcome it. The indigenous Muslim communities of Assam have 21 organisations and their coordination forum is Janagosthiya Samannay Parishad, Assam. It will offer Rs 5 lakh to the trust which will be formed for the construction of Ram mandir," the report quoted Mominul Awal, chief convenor of the Parishad and chairman of Assam Minorities Development Board as saying.

Jonogusthiya Somonnoy Parishad Assam (JSPA) includes the Muslims belonging to Garia, Maria, Deshi, Jalha, Maimal and Kachari.

JSPA leader and senior BJP spokesperson Syed Muminul Awal said the indigenous Muslim communities of the state were happy with the historic decision and they wanted to be the part of the process that will further strengthen communal harmony and unity in the country.
