Akhilesh Yadav tests Covid-19 positive, isolates himself

Lucknow/IBNS: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has tested positive for Covid-19.

Akhilesh has said on Twitter, "My Corona result has come positive. I have isolated myself at home. I request all people, who came in contact with me in the last few days, to get tested for Covid-19. I would request them to isolate themselves."

India is witnessing the second wave of Covid-19 which has induced partial lockdowns in various states and stricter enforcement of restrictions in Maharashtra.

India reported 1,84,372 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, marking a sharp rise in daily case count, as per data released by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.

In the past 24 hours, 1,027 people died due to the highly infectious virus.
