All women delegation from West Bengal to visit China to exchange notes on best practices

Kolkata, July 19 (IBNS): A women's delegation from Bengal will be on a week-long visit to China this month at the invitation of India's big neighbour.

At a gathering with the women members of the delegation, Zha Liyou, the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, expressed his hopes that it will help them to interact with the women leaders in China and learn about the best practices.

Zha described the visit of the women leaders as 'symbolic'.

Zha Liyou said while addressing the press briefing: "The women leaders of Kolkata will visit Kunming and see everything there."

Kunming in Southwest China and eastern India's biggest city Kolkata are sister cities for nearly six years now.

Chaitali Das, a social entrepreneur and managing trustee of Rakshak Foundation, will lead the delegation to the neighbouring nation.

"It is an honour to lead the delegation," Chaitali said.

Chaitali Das said: "Kunming and Kolkata are sister cities. We will be visiting our sisters there. Hence, we will like to welcome them for the Durga Puja."

The delegation will visit China from July 20- July 27.

The visit is supported by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China.

The theme of the Women Leadership delegation between West Bengal of India to Yunnan Province of China is “Kolkata Women Changemakers: Harbouring Hope, Fostering Growth.”

The delegation will comprise of 6 women delegates namely Chaitali Das, Prof. Shabina Nishant Omar, Ghazala Yasmin, Dr. Dolly Gupta; Dermatologist, CA Anusri Sheth, and Vedika Jaiswal.

The agenda of the delegation are poverty alleviation and women empowerment. They will be visiting places such as Kunming Luolong Residential Sub-District, Yunnan Minzu University, Yunnan Nationalities Village, Poverty Reduction program at Jinping County, Yunnan Women Entrepreneurs and Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre.
