Ambedkar's inspiration helped India dedicate itself to social justice, says Modi on constitution architect's birth anniversary

Indian PM Narendra Modi on Monday remembered architect of constitution BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary and said it is due to his inspiration that the country continues to strive towards realizing the dream of social justice.

Modi posted on X: "On behalf of all the countrymen, I bow down to Bharat Ratna Pujya Babasaheb on his birth anniversary."

He said: "It is due to his inspiration that the country is dedicatedly engaged in realizing the dream of social justice today. His principles and ideals will give strength and momentum to the creation of a self-reliant and developed India."

Born on April 14, 1891 in Mahu Cantt in Madhya Pradesh, Ambedkar was the fourteenth child of his parents.

Drafting of Indian Constitution 

The Constituent Assembly entrusted the job of drafting the Constitution to a committee and Ambedkar was elected as Chairman of this Drafting Committee. 

While he was busy drafting the Constitution, India faced several crises.  During that time, the country saw partition and the 'Father of the Nation' Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated.

At the beginning of 1948, Ambedkar completed the draft of the Constitution and presented it in the Constituent Assembly. 

In November 1949, this draft was adopted with very few amendments.
