Amid political acrimony, Mamata Banerjee meets Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar

Kolkata/IBNS: Amid the increasing acrimony in the relationship between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday evening visited Raj Bhavan in Kolkata and held talks with the guv for nearly an hour.

"Myself and Mrs Sudesh Dhankhar greeted Hon’ble Chief Minister @MamataOfficial when she visited Raj Bhawan today," Jagdeep Dhankhar tweeted after the meeting was over.

So far, neither the Chief Minister nor the governor's office has officially revealed the reason behind the meeting. But it fuelled speculations on whether the CM met the governor to induct new faces in her ministry after the resignation of leaders like Suvendu Adhikari and Laxmi Ratan Shukla (Adhikari joined the BJP).

The governor has to adminster the oath in case of induction of new ministers. Some media reports said it could be a visit to invite him for a special assembly session to pass resolutions against Modi govt's farm laws that triggered protests in states like Punjab and Haryana.
