Amit Shah hails PM Modi for reducing excise duty on petrol, diesel

| @indiablooms | Nov 04, 2021, at 11:20 pm

New Delhi/UNI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for slashing central excise duty on petrol and diesel.

"By lowering the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and 10 respectively, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has given a big relief to the common people on Diwali. This relief is a very sensitive decision despite the surge in the prices (crude oil) at the international level. I thank Modi ji for this," said Shah in a series of tweets.

Calling it a 'Diwali gift' by the PM to the countrymen, Shah said, "It will not only give relief to the general public but will also reduce inflation."

Praising the BJP-led government in several states, the Union Minister further said, "The BJP governments in states under the leadership of Narendra Modi ji have done a laudable job to provide relief to the public by further slashing the prices of petrol and diesel."

On Wednesday, the Centre announced to cut central excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs five and 10 respectively from Thursday.
