Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah was on Wednesday admitted to a private hospital for a possible minor surgery.

Shah, who had arrived here last night on a sudden visit, has been admitted to private Kusum Dheerajlal (KD) hospital near Vaishnodevi circle on S G Highway on the outskirts of the city.

Though the hospital has not issued any official bulletin so far, sources in the BJP said that some routine tests have been conducted and the party president might undergo a minor surgery.

''In case of surgery, he is likely be discharged by today evening,'' the sources said without divulging as to what kind of surgery it would be.

Notably, Shah, 54, had recently visited Gujarat and participated in a few public events, including the seventh convocation of the Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University.
