Amit Shah in Guwahati, prays at Kamakhya Temple on Durga Ashtami

Guwahati, Oct 17 (IBNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Wednesday prayed at the Kamakhya Temple on the occasion of Durga Ashtami.

Shah tweeted some pictures saying, "Blessed to have prayed at the Maa Kamakhya devi shaktipeeth in Guwahati today on Durga Ashtami."

On this day, devotees assemble at the pandals to offer their pushpanjali (offerings) to the goddess.

Durga puja, an annual Hindu festival, is mostly popular in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisa, Assam and Tripura.

It is also widely celebrated in Bangladesh.
