Amit Shah to chair NEC plenary session in Guwahati tomorrow

Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair the 68th plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Guwahati on Sunday.

The meeting would be attended by the DoNER minister and Vice Chairman of NEC Dr Jitendra Singh, members of the NEC consisting of the Governors and Chief Ministers of the eight North Eastern States, other members and senior officials of the key ministries of the union government.

The two-day NEC plenary session is expected to deliberate on progress of  several development projects, funding by the ministries of the union government to the North Eastern region, plans for the period beyond Mach 2020 when the term of the 14th Finance Commission comes to end.

Shah will arrive at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati at around 10-50 am on September 8 and will attend the NEC plenary session.

He will stay at night at Raj Bhawan, Guwahati.

Shah will also attend a meeting of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) on September 9.

The Home Minister would likely to visit Maa Kamakhya temple on Monday morning.
