Amphan weakens into cyclonic storm over Bangladesh

New Delhi/UNI: Super Cyclone Amphan weakened into a cyclonic storm and lay centred over Bangladesh.

In its latest report, the Indian Meteorological Department(IMD) has said that the Cyclone Amphan is very likely to continue to move north-northeast wards and weaken further into a ‘Deep Depression’ during next three hours and into a depression during subsequent six hours.

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall warning for Assam and Meghalaya, light to moderate rainfall at most places and heavy to very heavy extremely heavy falls up to 20 cm at isolated places on Thursday.

Similarly, in Arunachal Pradesh, light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places is likely on May 21.

The central weather monitoring agency has also said that squally wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph very likely over eastern Assam and Western Meghalaya till evening and reduce gradually thereafter.
