Andhra Pradesh: Congress to contest on its own in 2019

New Delhi, Jan 23 (IBNS): The Congress will fight on its own in Andhra Pradesh in the next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Reports quoted Congress general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh Oommen Chandy as saying that the party would contest all the 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats.

The announcement comes a day after TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu met Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi on Tuesday. Naidu had said a decision on the alliance would be taken keeping in mind the sentiments of both the workers of both the parties.

The TDP-Congress alliance for the recently Assembly elections in Telangana was a disaster with the Congress winning only 19 of the 119 seats and the TDP, 2.
