New Delhi/UNI/IBNS: Days after a mass agitation was held in Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), a violent protest broke out in Seelampur area in the national capital on Tuesday.

More than 1,000 people gathered outside the DCP office in North-East Delhi's Seelampur protesting against the CAA, with the police resorting to lathi-charge and tear gas, reported UNI.

The protestors were shouting slogans -- 'Hindu-Muslim Zindabad' and 'Jamia tum sangharsh karo, hum tumhare saath hain'.

The agitators were seen pelting stones at police personnel.

Vandalisation of property has also been reported.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the Delhi Traffic Police said, ''Traffic movement has been closed on 66 feet road from Seelampur to Jafrabad (both carriageways) due to demonstration.''
