Anti-CAA resolution passed in West Bengal Assembly
Kolkata/UNI: The Anti-CAA resolution was passed in the West Bengal Assembly on Monday.
The Trinamool Congress, headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, tabled an official resolution in the State Legislative Assembly opposing the Union Government's recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) earlier in the House today.
The anti-CAA resolution was mooted by senior TMC leader and state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee in the specially called session at the state Assembly.
After Kerala, Punjab, and Rajasthan, West Bengal became the fourth state to pass such a resolution against the CAA.
The new citizenship law was passed by the Indian government last month.
The protest had triggered widespread violence across India.
