Anup Chetia sent to six days transit remand

New Delhi, Nov 12 (IBNS): United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) leader Anup Chetia, who was handed over by Bangladesh to India recently, was sent to six days' transit remand by a competent court here on Thursday.

In a statement, the CBI said: "The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an accused Golap Barua @ Anup Chetia in connection with an alleged murder case of Golaghat (Assam). The accused was brought to New Delhi on 11.11.2015."

"The accused was produced today before the Competent Court in New Delhi which has granted six days' transit remand," read the statement.

The CBI have registered the said case on 21.03.1988, on the request of Assam Government in connection with an alleged killing which took place on 29.08.1986.

Further investigation is continuing in the case, the CBI said.
