Army captain dies in Siachen avalanche

Srinagar, Nov 14 (IBNS) An Army Captain was killed when avalanche struck a patrol party in Siachen Glacier in Ladakh sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

An army spoeksman said  Regimental Medical Officer Captain Ashwini Kumar lost his life when his patrol party came under an
avalanche.

Altogether 15 soldiers were rescued after the  avalanche struck the  patrol party in southern area of glacier.

The mortal remains of the officer have been sent to Patiala, his native place.

Lt Gen D S Hooda, Northern Army Commander has expressed deep condolences for the loss of the brave officer.
