Around 17 lakh voters to decide fates of 8 candidates in Lakhimpur-Baithalangso by-poll

Guwahati, Nov 18 (IBNS) : Over 17 lakh voters from of Assam’s Lakhimpur parliamentary constituency and Baithalangso assembly constituecy will exercise their franchises and to decide on the fates of eight candidates in both constituency by-election which will be held on Nov 19.

Altogether 15,11,110 voters from nine assembly constituencies under Lakhimpur parliamentary constituency where the by-election is necessitated after Sarbananda Sonowal became Assam Chief Minister to decide on the fates of five candidates.

On the other hand, altogether 1,80,203 voters to decide on the fates of three candidates in Baithalangso where the by-election is necessitated after former MLA of Congress Dr Mansing Rongpi had joined BJP in August last.

Amid a mammoth security has been arranged in the both constituency, where voting will start from 7 am on Nov 19, where the fight is believed in between ruling BJP and Congress.

BJP had captured five assembly constituencies under the Lakhimpur parliamentary constituency in the last assembly poll while Congress, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), AIUDF and Ganasakti captured one each.

In the last general election BJP candidate Sarbandad Sonowal won the Lakhimpur seat by defeating Congress candidate Ranee Narah.

On the other hand, Congress won the Baithalangso seat in the last assembly poll.
